Japanese Sword Accessory (wari-kogai)

This an antique Japanese sword accessory (wari-kogai) made for a short sword (wakizashi). It is made of a copper-gold alloy (shakudō) with a wonderful purplish-black patina. It has a plain polished design. It dates from the late Edo Period circa late 18th to mid-19th Century.

It is unsigned by the artist who made it. The accessory which can act as a set of chopsticks (hashi) measures 17.5 cm (7.0 inches). The condition of this antique accessory is excellent. They date from the late Edo Period circa late 18th to mid-19th century. The accessory comes in a plain white silk bag.
