Ceramic Plate with Wooden Storage Box


This is a large antique ceramic plate with the designs of two dragons coming out of clouds.  The male dragon is grasping the wish-fulfilling gem.  The ceramic has been colored and a textured applied to mimic rusted iron.  Along the inside cover of the wooden storage box is the obscured name of a previous owner and a Meiji Period date of the Chinese zodiac year of the dragon.  There was a total of four years of the dragon during the Meiji Period which are the dates 1868, 1880, 1892, and 1904 CE.

  • Product Information

    The ceramic plate was made during the Meiji Period (circa 1868-1912) and is unsigned by the artist.  It measures 39.6 cm (15.6 inches) in diameter and 1.9 cm (0.7 inches) deep. There is a 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) scrape to the surface on the backside of the plate not noticeable when view from the front.  Due to its size custom box and packing would be required for safe shipment.

    Returns are accepted during a three-day inspection period starting upon acceptance of the item with a 10% restocking fee of the original purchase price.  Items wanting to be returned after this three-day inspection period can be purchased back at a discounted price at the discretion of the management of Rain Dragon Art and Antiques, LLC.
